Brattiness used to be ugly
It started with sitcoms and commercials. Nobody really stopped to ask why we were celebrating and rewarding bratty children, we just laughed at the professionally crafted humour and admired the carefully selected actors' beauty. Before long we'd all accepted the idea that brattiness is cute and to be permitted in children. This gave rise to the idea that children have opinions, and what's more, a right to them! Now we find ourselves being directed, to a degree, by the whims of children who think their musings are direct from the mystic source. When in fact they're much too young and ignorant. Think back to your childhood, would you let that kid make important decisions? You'd let his feelings have a say in the rule, but ultimately, only to spare him discomfort, not to reward his wants.
all the same, it suits the oligarchy to encourage bratty children. Bratty children do not lighten the load of their parents with chores and assistance, companionship and distraction. Rather, they increase the load with sullen faces, unpleasant conversation, and additional damage and mess as they live like little zoo animals in their parents' houses. No longer to adults reward children for trying hard to please adults. Rather, they are shamed and insulted and told to think for themselves. Once the province of childhood, people now struggle as adults to learn proper manners no longer taught in the home.
Forcing your population to work their fingers to the bone caring for ungrateful children keeps them from taking time for political action, deep thought, realistic discussions about the problems around them, or otherwise doing anything besides buying more corporate food, toys, and drugs. Keeping children obstinate and intractable helps ensure they won't receive the education you're still forced to provide, but rather will grow up into disabled adults dependant on a corporate system that seeks only to use their energy for it's own needs until they are used up and tossed out to fare as best they might.
So the agenda is to create a population of people that breeds and raises itself only well enough to continue the cycle of breeding and chasing hopeless dreams in the corporate service. Now that we're there, we're not happy and the oligarchy is tickled pink and self satisfied. What next? Can we heal those in power so they give a shit about their actions?
