I've just finished the next two boxes.  They may need another gloss coat and definitely need 48 hours drying before posting.  I don't want people peeling wrapping out of it.  I will probably go with minimal protection, though, as they're hardier to movement than to pressure.  That is, if they move around a little in their space they won't be as likely to get stuck to the walls.  However, I'm seriously going to wait till I can set it on a shelf overnight without it sticking.  I can't have people get these and they stick.  Nail varnish may dry fast but we're talking up to a dozen coats in some boxes and it softens all the way down and has to dry all the way back out again.  Definitely after one week they are hard enough to drop on the floor but I don't know exactly yet how many days is minimum to avoid pressure damage, because I've been that careful.  So yeah, list them when the week wait is nearly out and give it a longish ship time so I have flexibility.  Some have only a half dozen layers and dry faster.  It's all about the gloss, though, and that's usually 4-5 coats deep.  Maybe some have 6 if they had a lot of glitter in them. The sprinkle glitter really sucks the stuff up.  First three coats is just saturating the glitter.  Then you need 3 more to get it deep enough to see the gloss.
Okay, enough about my current obsession.
Dan is getting an earful these days about salvage building, tiny building, and boat living. I'm even suggesting we could park a boat in the yard and custom it here at home while we live here.  That would let us build in our stuff and we'd be seeking a parking spot and marina instead of apartment.  We'd have somewhere to sleep instead of a motel room, and it would be our custom built home.
Things about it which make me nervous, though, is the scarcity of marine based resources, especially salt water tolerant.  We could do the bulkheads and wood bits here, but we'd still probably wind up doing a lot of the electronics, wiring, and drive train work out there.  That then makes it impractical to do much here at all!  So I"m thinking on that and I need to pop into some marine supply places, discover what's out there.  Next summer I can even start taking the smart car to marinas to poke around and see what's out there.  I also pointed out to Dan that considering surrey or richmond first makes more economic sense and we could move up to victoria after we get the lay of the land.
So today I pull the koi into the house.  I'm hoping they aren't so big now I have to find homes for some of the goldfish.  I think so, but my social skills and motivation have gotten so narrow I just can't seem to get up the go for it.   Perhaps I can sell them via kijiji but then again I really dislike that much  interaction.  The phone calls, the drop-in pickup or delivery, it's all ... Hey wait, delivering would really improve my opinion of the process.  I'd rather deliver it than pick it up really.  Oh fuck, frankly I just want to bring one bucket of fish to one person and let him sell them.  These days there's only one store left and he's dying.
