compromising
When you face another human, you are expressing your thoughts on your face. or psychically. Not sure. But they can get the gist of your opinion without one word yet said. Now you can do that with them too. So ok, how are you going to negotiate to get the outcome you want? You are here together for something, and you want something. What do they want? Ok, now that's the surface statement, but what do you *really* want? Like the neighbor who wants you to get off his case and you want the stream of noise and stink of garbage to cease. What could reward him for co-operating with your need, and what can you give to enable him to co-operate? I mean, yeah, sometimes you need to get a bigger hammer, ie call the cops. It could instead be a police officer doing an inspection and finding a minor flaw in your vehicle that you haven't been able to remedy. It could be a border guard deciding whether to search you. What's that person, not that representative or their agency, but that human, really want? What do they have to accomplish to get on with THEIR day? How do you help them get there faster? If they're on the job, they're always thinking of efficiency. How do you speed up the job? Now they like you because you're making it easy. They likely are going to make it easy for you.
Then there are those who are acting like that because it upsets your balance and that shows them they have power. They're the disempowered. They in fact sometimes become quite powerful, but they never feel like they own that power, or that it rests within them. They are the disempowered. Someone took all their power at the wrong time in life and they will grasp forever, caught in a sisyphusian hell of excess. I still am not sure what we could do with that personality type. Better if we didn't abuse them as juveniles and avoid the problem.
Well those folks can't be reasoned with, or bargained with, but you can negotiate, if you have something they're after. But then you will be playing their game with them. Never forget that this is the depth and scope of their relationship. The buck does stop there.
I still wonder if this latter class of human can learn different. I haven't got enough input experience to form an opinion. I know most folks think not. but I know too we used to say man would never fly. never touch the moon. never leave earth orbit. Never, never never, humans are too clever, there is no such thing as never. Remember, the boffins are on it. There's clusters of boffins everywhere, in corners and rooms and hallways and fields and labs and factories and art studios and more, all working on some solution for something. We've never had more boffins in the population as we have now. Seriously, boffin overload! yes I do love that word. I only recently learned that it meant "experts in their fields" as pertaining to research and development. It's much more inclusive than "scientist" because it includes engineering and arts too.
