what a week.
That night, Timmy suddenly became desperately ill. He couldn't breathe, collapsed with a long pained cry, and panted horribly, crying as he went. I tried to get a night's sleep because it was late and a 2 hour drive back to town, so in the morning after a hasty breakfast we drove and drove. I did phone ahead and let them know we were coming and called Dan, and when I got to saskatoon, went directly to the vet and hauled timmy directly in. Poor little mite had such a hard week. His heart is enlarged and his lungs were filling with fluid. He is on diuretics, and I have been dosing him with CBD as well as tempting him or force feeding him, as needed, with such high calorie foods as lard and butter and cheese and noodles, and such dense nutrition as broth and coconut water and also sweetened condensed milk (that I put in my tea and coffee.) Awhile there, he seemed suicidal, tottering determinedly in the direction of the nearest danger he could perceive. As he is sick and slow, this was easy to handle, but distressing to see. He didn't want to eat, was paperthin on his skin, all his bones sticking out, old fractures on his ribs telling of his being stepped on and squeezed in the past. So he's finally turned the corner, his appetite still sucks but he smiles, he takes interest, he's awake again. Timmy has the cutest tiny smile on his wee muzzle.
I know he can't live forever. I realize probably not over 2 decades. I am grateful he isn't dead now and maybe will get to enjoy the wet coast with us?
I finally used the generator to run my welder, so I could strengthen the battery box for the new batteries. Tomorrow I'd like to build the holds for the batteries and sort out the wiring. If things go smoothly I might even move the solar charger to the final location by sunset to start the batteries charging with sunrise. I would very much like a battery monitor too some time, there's nothing right now.
The generator cannot run my kitchen stand mixer. Given that the thing made the house lights dim, I guess it's no surprise, but I wonder if the inverter can run it? If so, how long can the batteries handle it? If I ran it early in the day, could the panels replenish it by night fall? How will the fridge run on the batteries? So many questions soon to be answered! I am still hanging at a truckstop. It's a little dead end of unfinished street out back of the place, a sort of no man's land that the truckstop just monitors. They keep an eye on the squatters to keep it all tidy, which I do. I need to get some dog shit cleared again, but given the way they mow the lawn, I can appreciate they don't care about the dog doo doo that much. I still think I should, given how long I'm here with two dogs. I did once already.
I think I could move to a different location by next week. Not a lot of ideas on good spots in the city but I don't like sitting in one spot this long. It's been a week now already, it'll be almost two by monday. It's exciting I"ll finally have a solar system but i definitely want to upgrade my inverter some time to something that takes my bus's 30a plug directly.
Ok, well, it's late, I wanna sleep now.
