fun day out

With Dan easily passing as senior we didn't even have to show ID to get the discounted price at the everything electric show. I like that!  I'm 4 years waiting but he's clearly over 65 so I just asked for 2 senior and we weren't challenged. It's like how as a kid I was getting the under 11 discount right up to age 13. Hehehe
I made sure to enjoy my money's worth too, taking any swag they offered and test driving 3 of the 6 brands of car available.  I considered more but I was tired from talking to people. Dan thoroughly enjoyed getting out and was all kinds of pleasant company.  Staying on topic, being patient, interested and involved.  It was the guy I'd married, frankly, and that's all I ever wanted out of him. Well anyway, he really got a kick out of the harbour planes, seabus, the harbour views, the sod roofs, the fancy buildings, and learning to use transit which he has never done before.  I should take him on the trains next time for a fun jaunt to get used to that.  He's been on the Toronto subway but honestly that's all I think he has ever done.  Wait till he gets a load of the elevated commuter trains!  Hehe.  The buildings also had him excited. So I will plan some kind of outing in a month or so.  Not too often, it overwhelms, but he clearly can value the adventuring when he's not too stressed and it's not too often.
I did enjoy the test drives. It was surprising to me to learn how easily my skills shifted from car to car.  In the old days, I always had to learn the machine first. Each one had it's own unique character.  How hard they brake, how suddenly they respond to steering, the acceleration, how much pressure the pedals take to feather vs stutter, any oddities in steering, like you have to go 20 degrees before it engages, perhaps.  Yeah, none of that.  Get in, check mirrors, set up the seat, push the on button, dial in the drive setting (that varies from car to car but seat adjustments do not?) and go.  And it responds like it's your car. Like you always knew how it works. 3 different vehicles and other than the ridiculousness of the equinox's dash, they all drove the same. I really appreciated the headsup displays on the windshield. Visible in full sun and always just the info I want. My speed, and the speed limit where I'm driving. Pretty nifty. One didn't include speed warnings.  The stupid equinox didn't have this at all. Kia, that was it.  And a nissan. the nissan was the nicest physically for fit and size, but the kia had the best headsup.
Then another thing, rather alarming really, I nearly passed out when I floored the pedal.  I mean, I backed off quick and I had to just hold on and be still but damn, I was terrified. Several times I tested this,  The equinox didn't do it, but the other two did.  Accelerated so suddenly there was excess G force on my brain affecting it's well being. I don't know enough about it but I know it's why fighter pilots undergo such rigorous G force testing. You don't want that while piloting a vehicle. Now as to it happening on acceleration, will that result in people passing out with a foot pressing the accelerator?  We shall have to listen and find out, I guess.  Probably not. But still, whew, that's not cool. I didn't like it.  I would put a limiter on my car, probably available in settings, to restrict acceleration speed to whatever I found comfortable after testing.  I suppose this is also something race car drivers have to manage.  I do think it's a function of my age and at a younger age it wouldn't have bothered me.
The water main up the street where I am parking broke this evening. Water flowed out all over the street. Shouty-man's dogs were trapped in cages with this water swirling 2" deep past them and shouty-man did not address his dogs needs immediately but chose to stand around chin wagging and bitching about them barking.  I fucking hate him so much.  I just can't.
At least our little shortcut around behind the bus yards to the garbage bin and the big open lot is back available now.  Shouty-man's dogs were stopping it from use.  Now he's been forced out onto the road again.    I wish we could solve this but I don't know how.
The RVer's jacking into the building did get the water cut off like I said they would.  Fuckers.  But it's not literally cut off so I can get it working to go get myself some bath water this sunday. I think I'd like to.  Dan's been fetching my regular water for me froim further away around behind the tennis center. At least hey can't attach their rvs to that one.  Also it's owned by north vancouver so the bill for the water won't be worried about.  I mean, since the city is legally responsible for our needs, fees notwithstanding, it's a pretty cheap form of welfare to just not kick us out and not shut off the water.  LOL  I think they should bring round a garbage can or two for us too.  As it is, they're emptying the park cans more often now, so they get it.
Shouty-man's dogs are left outside, on the street, trapped in wee cages, so they naturally bark All Fucking Night Long.  I've resorted to ear plugs.  It feels like my old neighborhood again. Sigh. I was so enjoying not having to listen to dogs barking, finally, after all these years.
I finally started using my prosthetic nipples. I need new glue, though. the glue has a limited shelf life so it's not curing well enough and the nips won't stay on if I swim.  But just sitting around home topless on a hot night is a miracle.  I just couldn't without them, worrying someone would see through the windows and notice the man with no nips.
It feels so good to just look in the mirror and my chest doesn't look freakish.  The scars are not invisible but neither do they holler out "hey, what is that?"  Zero nips does, though.  Yeah, they make the scars less noticeable.  They do not look quite natural enough from above, but from a mirror, yep.  LOL
Ok, so that was a day and a half. The Everything Electrical Show, Canada.  Not the most exciting booths ever, but still well worth the time I would say. We weren't bored, we didn't leave early, and we didn't feel let down.
What would I add?
Vendors, definitely, I would add vendors. Crafts, gifts, accessories, parts, anything that sticks with the theme. So crafts would include keychains and car seat covers and mirror danglers and electric themed tees and blah blah. Accessories, you could have been demonstrating and selling battery pack all-in-ones, solar battery phone charger lights, solar flashlights, gadgets galore around the whole theme of green electricity, right up to solar panels and retail parts contacts.  Only installation and cutting edge plus vehicle related stuff were there and it could have been a lot more engaging with some shopping opportunities, even if I don't shop.
I would say some kind of recreational area but I think the test driving area was about as good as yoyu will get, and they had bike test driving too.  They took the drivers right on into the city, so it wasn't like going round a wee track.  I mean, you could have some video kiosks doing quiz games or something, but that kind of thing for adults is hard to theme well.
